MP Visit Delayed
A Special visit to our South Kirkby Cold Stores and Ice Plant by Jon Trickett MP for Hemsworth Constituency has had to be postponed.
John Trickett MP together with Councillor Denise Jeffery Deputy Leader of the council had asked particularly to visit our Ice Plant run by Keystream Ltd., as it is potentially the largest ice manufacturing plant outside the USA.
Owing to illness John Trickett MP and Councillor Jeffery were unable to attend and John Trickett was kind enough to write to one of our Directors Malcolm Dufton saying “I was sorry that ill health prevented me meeting you at the visit organised by Mohan De Silva and the Wakefield First Team on Friday 21st November. I have been looking forward to the occasion.”
Fortunately Mohan De Silva and his team were able to visit us, and together with Karen Harrison Director of Langthwaite Business Association, spent nearly 2 hours in the company of Seguro Directors Stuart Hancock and John Watson and Keystream Director Phillip Marr looking round sections of the Cold Store and the ice making facility.
They admitted that there was a lot of great interest to look at, they congratulated the business on its progress over its 2 years at South Kirkby taking it from a failing store to a go ahead business employing in access of three hundred people, and they admitted that the original time for the visit of forty minutes had been way of the mark as there was so much to see.
Many items were discussed including the stores participation in the EUDeep Scheme for saving energy, potential plans for an additional cold store on land at joining the site and forthcoming proposals from the British Frozen Food Federation to reduce the temperatures at which some foods are traditionally stored so as to save energy, without causing any risk of deterioration to the quality of the food.
Needless to say that we are happy that John Trickett MP and Councillor Jeffery have made a full recovery and we look forward to welcoming them here some time in the near future.
